Observe and enforce mode

Farava has three parts that act directly on the network. Each starts in observe mode on a fresh installation: the system makes and records its decisions but does not apply them to the network. That lets you test the system with no risk to subscribers.

How do I know which mode we are in?

• In Connection check, “Network rules are in observation mode and not enforced” means observe mode.
• In a service’s technical configuration details, values that do not affect the network yet are marked “Not enforced yet”.
• MikroTik does not create dynamic queues for subscribers.

Who changes it

The mode is changed on the server and cannot be changed from the panel. When you are ready, arrange it with the Farava team. Before that, have these ready:

1. All routers are registered and enabled and LIVE.
2. Test subscribers both sign in and appear online under Sessions (accounting works).
3. Plans and subscriber services are set up correctly, so nobody is suddenly cut off because of missing data (for example an ended period).
4. For remote disconnects, routers are prepared as in MikroTik setup.
5. Before IP assignment is turned on, pools are created, bound to routers, and active.

The usual order is access rules first, then IP assignment, and finally Hotspot. Each step is checked with a few test subscribers first.

Caution

Turning on IP assignment before pools are ready makes every subscriber’s sign-in fail. That is why it is done together with the Farava team.
